A little familiar? Well Gemma Slack did a two year apprenticeship with Gareth Pugh, before debuting her first collection in Spring/Summer '09. The images above are from this gothic inspired collection... Love her individual take on the shoulder pads craze.

These are from Slack's Spring/Summer 2010 collection, both shoots styled by Kate Ruth.
Well of course I'm a fan. Anyone who includes my favourite elements: leather, gold, metal, studs and black, definitely gets a thumbs up from me.

Shopping and The City

Within the past two days I have been all around London, shopping in every shop possible. You name it, I've been there: Oxford Street, Camden, Islington, Brent Cross, Wood Green...And I have bought almost nothing. In fact, I've spent more money on travel expenses and shopping snacks (McDonald's), than I have on actual goods, resulting in an overall net loss.

This story sounds familiar, possibly a lack of a certain gender? And I can't help but wonder..Where is all the good shit?

Before I get all Carrie Bradshaw on your ass, I have to say that I think 1) the sales have been poor, and 2) there just isn't much in them shops today in general.

I was looking for a coat. But for some reason every single coat on sale is formal and way too smart for my casual daytime attire. Why is it that all of a sudden in Winter, it becomes the norm for everyone to look like a city banker?

There seems to be a niche in the market for casual coats. I want a NEW coat, which means I don't want to go down to Brick Lane for a second-hand, sorry, vintage one. I don't want a NIKE puffer jacket, nor a BARBOUR fake. And H&M's Divided coats aren't doing it this year, so my only option is a Parker or Parker-style coat, which has proven very hard to find. In fact, I've given up. I've decided that rather than running round like a desperate idiot, I'll just sit back and let nature take its course. If I see that Parka by chance, then it was meant to be.

Cloud 9

One of my favourite presents this year had to be my CLOUD 9 scratch card from Tyula. I would've loved it even more if I had won, but sadly it was not to be..

If only 1 + 3 equaled 9.. :-(

Sinead's Homemade Christmas

Forget Kirstie, here's my guide to Christmas decorations...

HOW TO MAKE A XMAS TREE BAUBLE:

Things you will need:

- cardboard
- scissors
- stanley knife
- net fabric
- pencil
- tub of astral moisturiser
- Coloured yarn

step 1: Get an astral tub and draw around it onto cardboard. Draw a smaller circle in the first. And cut both circles out. You will need to use a stanley knife to cut the circle in the middle
Note. If you don't have an astral container, use anything else with a circular shape that is around the same size

step 2: Repeat step 1 so you are left with two donut shaped circles made from cardboard

step 3: Cut the net fabric into strips

step 4: Place one cardboard donut on top of the other, and pull the strip of net through the hole in the middle. Bring the strip round the outside and back through the middle again, so you are wrapping the strip round the donut

step 5: Continue this action round the donut, until the strip is finished. Then start again with a new strip

step 6: Carry on in this way until the cardboard is fully covered and the hole in the middle is very small

step 7: Use a stanley knife to cut through the net and in between the two donuts. Cut all the way around the circle

step 8: Cut a piece of coloured string/yarn/ribbon, and pass it between the two donuts. Tie a knot

step 9: Remove the cardboard donuts by cutting them. Tie another knot in the yarn further up

step 10: Trim the edges to neaten up, and your done!

Tips

- wrap the net around tightly for best results
- cardboard donuts get tatty, so after about 3 baubles, you may need to replace them

Rihanna - Hard

I really DON'T rate Rihanna... but this video is kinda 'hard' i guess. It's directed by Melina Matsoukas who was responsible for videos such as Snoop Dogg's Sensual Seduction and Tambourine by Eve. Not sure about the military theme though, promoting guns is not cool, but check out the pink tank!

21st Century Jewelry

As I mentioned before, I have just started a hand-knit jewelry project. Whilst researching modern jewelry I have come across some very interesting designers and their work, some of which you can buy online. Have a look...
