Shopping and The City

Within the past two days I have been all around London, shopping in every shop possible. You name it, I've been there: Oxford Street, Camden, Islington, Brent Cross, Wood Green...And I have bought almost nothing. In fact, I've spent more money on travel expenses and shopping snacks (McDonald's), than I have on actual goods, resulting in an overall net loss.

This story sounds familiar, possibly a lack of a certain gender? And I can't help but wonder..Where is all the good shit?

Before I get all Carrie Bradshaw on your ass, I have to say that I think 1) the sales have been poor, and 2) there just isn't much in them shops today in general.

I was looking for a coat. But for some reason every single coat on sale is formal and way too smart for my casual daytime attire. Why is it that all of a sudden in Winter, it becomes the norm for everyone to look like a city banker?

There seems to be a niche in the market for casual coats. I want a NEW coat, which means I don't want to go down to Brick Lane for a second-hand, sorry, vintage one. I don't want a NIKE puffer jacket, nor a BARBOUR fake. And H&M's Divided coats aren't doing it this year, so my only option is a Parker or Parker-style coat, which has proven very hard to find. In fact, I've given up. I've decided that rather than running round like a desperate idiot, I'll just sit back and let nature take its course. If I see that Parka by chance, then it was meant to be.
