Although I'm doing a degree in Fashion Knitwear Design, I only learnt how to hand-knit 4 days ago. The Head designer at Rowan yarns, Marie Wallin, came in to teach us. However, I was the only complete beginner. Unlike my course mates, my mother/grandmother never taught me, but I have definitely now mastered the basics, and I love it! It's very therapeutic and I can't help feeling very maternal whilst doing it, especially in Winter.
My next mission is baking. In keeping with the perfect housewife theme, I have decided that my new hobby for 2010 will be baking. I was given the 'Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook' for my 21st, and if you haven't already had the luxury of eating a Red Velvet cupcake from the Hummingbird Bakery, you are seriously missing out. I shall be adding a handheld electric whisk, and measuring scales to my Christmas list.
I'm just so excited to pass on all this vital knowledge to my future daughters. Unlike me, they will not be deprived of the art of housewivery. I'll be the next Carol Brady. I really will be the perfect mum! And as for being a grandma. Shiit! I'll be killing it out there!
